Yes, I agree with the mathematician. Even numbers have several ways to be the sum of two prime numbers. For example, the number 48 can be shown as "17+31","19+29" or "11+37". It appears that the higher the even number, the more pair of prime numbers there are that add up to it.

There is an assumption that says that every even number can be expressed as the sum of two prime numbers at least in one way. This assumption is called as Goldbach's conjecture, after Christian Goldbach, a Prussian mathematician who propounded it. it remains to be one of the most ancient problems that is yet not completely solved in the field of mathematics. The conjecture basically states that every even integer that is greater than the number 2 can be expressed as the sum of two prime numbers.

The FLL Singapore competition was held in our school,School of Science and Technology,Singapore(SST) on saturday,9th January 2010.
It was a pleasure for me and my friends to be there during the competition for some time so we were able poke our noses here and there for some inside scoop.

FFL is unique because of its 7 core values. These values are in fact the basic for all of us to live our lives. We solve problems and create new products and systems to improve the quality of our lives. Through the FLL,participants learn creative thinking and and problem solving skills while interacting with fellow peers, coaches and resourceful people from all aspects of life. These interactions and competitions allow them to experience the difficulties in solving problems and the accomplishment accompanied by achieving their goals and solving problems.

Attending the competition was a privilege for us as we sort of had VIP access to the competition area as we were in our school uniform and people could easily identify us as students of SST.

The competition was rather thrilling to watch as robots built by students of different ages were programmed to do different tasks on a so-called obstacle course.Almost everyone was a winner at the competition as there were other different awards given out besides the top 3 like best robot design, most innovative robot etc.Although we weren't there throughout the whole competition,it was rather exciting to watch the contestants battle it out on the obstacle course and present their robot to the judges even though the main objective was to exchange ideas within one another.

What are the three main points(or more)that you have learnt from all the activities?

I learnt that teamwork is very important in order for us to succeed,we should listen to one another when one has an idea so that we would not get confused and we should always take a few minutes to plan before we do something.

How can all this pointer be of help to you?

It would allow better communication among us and let us get along easily and get the assigned task done as soon as possible.

If you were to have another chance to try all the activities, which one will you choose? Why?

I would choose to do the scavenger hunt and flag making again as during the scavenger hunt, some of us were lagging behind while the others were walking a bit too fast and didn't bother to wait for the others and I would redo the flag making as everyone was yelling at one another and no one agreed on one thing until the near end of the activity.

If there was one thing you would like to change about yourself, what would that be?

I would want to take on more leadership responsibilities. Not that I'm full of myself, but that since no one wants to volunteer to do anything,I think i should stick out and lend a helping hand.

I think that Expanding Our Learning Networks would mean that not only should we learn through the internet or in our school, but globally and to put it simply, even in our community. Our mind should not be filled with knowledge of studies but general knowledge of our community, country or even the whole world!

This value is important for our future projects and research. For example,if we need to find out about(let's say) a historical landmark somewhere in Singapore or overseas, expansion of our network would come in handy as we would have general knowledge about it and need not waste time on research and can get the job done easily nd meet the deadline for the project/research.

that's all I can say for the reflection because that is all i know about it!!!

I'm not really sure of the true definition of forging excellence as I can't recall much about its meaning.Don't blame me,Ms Seah,I'm trying my best :D

Well, since I have no choice but to complete this assignment,I'll see what I can come up with.

Here goes...

Forging Excellence:

I guess that Forging Excellence means that we should strive and do our level best in whatever we do to lead and go beyond our boundaries and to achieve excellence.

I am a easy-going person which gives me an advantage as I display good sportsmanship(as long as I think so) and it is a "gold medal" for me when it comes to teamwork.

I think that the only thing I need is more patience as I have quite a temper.Maybe I can improve on that in the future.

I think I should participate more actively and try to offer more ideas in the team.

signing off!!

Working with my team on the bridge building was a fun experience.Working in a team gives me sort of a sense of belonging that other people don't despise me because of my race.(Although I have to say on this blog that I'm Indian-Muslim mix!)

My teammates had, somehow, became my friends. We had fun while trying to do our best to complete the assigned task to us.The most important thing besides completing the task is to just have fun with my friends, right?

I have interacted fairly well with all my teammates. While working with Su En,Carisa and Karan(they were equally fun, don't get it the wrong way),joking and pretty much a bit of goofing around was present along with Hao En and Jurvis. They were all jovial people and I'm glad that I had them as my members :D

I have to say that I haven't really learnt much about myself during the activity as I was just BEING myself, the so-called hardworking, fun person that I am.As a matter of fact,I don't think I have to do anything differently in the future as I don't want to be a kind of person someone wants to make out of me,I just want to be me.

Like I said,I'm happy enough to be in that group and thus I didn't have any fears or discomforts working with everyone.(I am SO not an introvert). As long as I have confidence in myself,I can assure myself that I won't be afraid of any obstacles to come.
